The Bull-Dog Cocktail, comes from the Savoy Cocktail Book, one of my favourite reads.
The Savoy Cocktail Book contains all the recipes Harry Craddock made famous during his time at the famous London hotel, and is beloved by many a bartender. If you don’t own a copy, I highly recommend you buy one.
I was looking for a cool, refreshing cocktail to quench and revive, and Harry’s Bull-Dog Cocktail hits the spot and best of all the ingredients are readily available and it’s very easy to make.
The drink is sweet, but not overly so, as the ginger ale tones down the citrus. I made it with Melbourne Gin Company Gin and it was the perfect choice!
Ingredients for the Bull-Dog Cocktail
1 orange, freshly squeezed (reserve a sliver of peel for garnish)
45ml gin
Ginger Ale (I used Fever-tree )
Method
Place a large ice-cube or two into a rocks glass.
Add the freshly squeezed orange juice and the gin.
Top up with ginger ale and stir gently.
Add garnish and enjoy!
