Last week I skipped off to Sydney with Hendrick’s gin to learn more about the cultivation of an unusually Australian Cucumber, so it’s fitting that today’s martini is The Usual Suspects, created by Jim Meehan of famed New York Bar, PDT, for Hendrick’s. PDT is on my wish list of bars to visit, but in the meantime I console myself by poring over their wonderful cocktail book.

The Usual Suspects combines gin, Lillet Blanc, and dry vermouth to create a soft, smooth dry martini. The addition of rose water is a lovely homage to Hendrick’s. This is a delightful martini that would be a perfect offering for a novice martini drinker.

Ingredients for The Usual Suspects
60ml Hendrick’s Gin
20ml Lillet Blanc
20ml Dolin vermouth
2 drops of rose water (I used Pariya’s which I found here.)
Method
Stir all the ingredients together over ice. Double strain into a chilled glass. Wipe the rim of the glass with a slice of cucumber, discard and then garnish with a fresh slice.
Enjoy!
