After COVID hit their plans to open last year, the Naught gin founders finally welcomed everyone to their distillery and bar on Thursday night.
I joined them for the opening, and it was so worth the wait. I went with two girlfriends and there was a collective “wow” as we took in the magnificent space.
The founders have worked hard to create a sophisticated venue to enjoy their delicious gin and have given people of Eltham a neightbourhood bar that could rival any CBD watering hole.

The bar has a wonderful vibe with options to sit on the mezzanine, at the bar, outside (with heaters) or in one of the leather clad booths (we managed to snag one!).
Given opening nights can be stressful, as the team get into the groove, I thought the staff did brilliantly. They knew the menu, made suggestions and were happy and engaged (so important!)

We snacked on a cheese and charcuterie platter, but I would have liked a wider choice of food options – perhaps something hot.
To fully test the bar team (ha!) we enjoyed gin and tonics, clover clubs and of course French 75s and a martini for me! We may also had a cheeky wee sip of some products in development. Exciting things to come.
Massive congratulations to the Naught team!
(Lucky Eltham, I so jealous – Naught Distillery is a 2 hour round trip for me!)
