On the Third Day of Gin-Mas 2019, my Gin Queen gave to me…a bottle of Patient Wolf gin.
Patient Wolf have much to celebrate this Gin-Mas with the opening of their new distillery and bar in South Melbourne.
If gazing at their gorgeous Mueller still wasn’t enough, they have created beautiful bar with a fabulous cocktail menu to boot.
There are three Patient Wolf gins, although there have been some super-limited editions, with more planned.
Melbourne Dry gin is made with ruby grapefruit, juniper, aniseed myrtle, cubeb pepper and the very unusual ingredient – tonka beans. This is a classic dry gin, perfect for mixing in any gin cocktails.
Summer Thyme gin is a riff on the Melbourne Dry gin but has fresh lemons and green thyme that have been vapour infused in the still’s botanical basket. This creates a bright, fresh gin, perfect for summer days.
Blackthorn Gin is made with resh, hand-picked sloes that are steeped in Melbourne Dry gin for 5 months before being sweetened with sugar. Unlike most other sloe gins on the market, this is a higher proof version at 33.2%! The higher strength denotes that it contains less sugar than other brands as the addition of sugar lowers the ABV (alcohol by volume).
