On the Sixth Day of Gin-Mas 2019, my Gin Queen gave to me…A bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin.
The launch of Bombay Sapphire gin in 1986 heralded the return of the good times for gin, it was usurped by vodka in the 1960s and had been relegated to the back of Nan’s cupboard. I blame Mr Bond and his vodka martinis.
Traditionally gin bottles had been clear or green. Bombay Sapphire’s blue bottle made it stand out and it was the first gin bottle to have list of botanicals printed on the side of the bottle. Until then, gin ingredients had been a mystery to most.
Bombay Sapphire is 100% vapour infused and uses ten botanicals: almond, lemon peel, liquorice, juniper berries, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise.
