This Negroni has many stories about its origin. Allegedly Count Camillo (not sure if this is a real person or not) asked for gin to be used in his Americano in place of soda water, and the Negroni was born.
It has to be one of my favourite cocktails, although it wasn’t always the case. It’s definitely an acquired taste. Those of you that don’t like Campari can try Aperol, a slightly sweeter, less bitter option.
Ingredients for the Negroni
30ml Gin (I used Four Pillars Gin)
30ml Sweet Vermouth
Pour the spirits into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir.
Strain and serve in a tumbler with a large piece of ice.
