I’ve put together this post on Father’s Day Gifts for Gin Lovers as the date is coming up in Australia, but I’m pretty sure these would work for anyone who loves gin, even the cufflinks! Maybe you could get a head-start on your Christmas shopping?
Liquid Intelligence: The Art and Science of the Perfect Cocktail by Dave Arnold
Dave Arnold is the creative force behind Booker + Dax, New York’s High-tech bar. In this book, Dave takes you into the lab to show how temperature, carbonation, sugar concentration, and acidity can affect a cocktail. Liquid Intelligence features 120 recipes and shares many techniques starting with basic “how to make clear ice” to the more advanced “how to clarify cloudy lime juice with enzymes”. Unsurprisingly, this book won Best New Cocktail/Bartending book at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards 2015.
Carry on Cocktail Kit: Gin and Tonic
Perfect for the frequent flyer in your life this kit features everything you need to mix a decent G&T mid-flight, all you need to do is add the gin. Each kit contains: recipe card, bar spoon, 1/2oz (approx 15ml) jigger, craft tonic syrup and a linen coaster. Also available The Old-Fashioned and The Moscow Mule.

The Botanist Gin
Buying a bottle of gin is always a good gift option whatever the occasion. I have so many favourites that it’s hard to single out one for this post. The Botanist is pretty special as gins go though! Made by the Bruichladdich distillery in Scotland, it’s a complex dry gin that makes brilliant martinis and bracing gin and tonics!
Poor Tom’s Gin
I’m keen to support local distillers so have included this new gin from Poor Tom’s in Sydney. I’ll be doing a fuller review soon, but I can say this is a delightfully floral gin, perfect for summer.
Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling
I can’t get enough of the smell of juniper and burn my Diptyque Genevrier candle at every opportunity, so when I came across this fragrance by Penhaligon’s I knew I had to share! Inspired by London Dry Gin, Juniper Sling is aimed at both boys and girls. The fragrance profile is described as “a crisp cocktail shot of gin with the freshness of juniper, cool measures of angelica and brandy and a beating libertine heart of black pepper, cardamom, soft leather and orris. A gourmand base of brown sugar, black cherry and amber add sensuality to the scent.”

Waterford ‘Mad Men’ Circon Gold Tumbler (pair)
With their high price tag, these Mad Men inspired tumbler definitely fall into the ‘luxe’ category, but I can’t resist including them as Waterford Crystal is such good quality. These tumblers are made from premium cut crystal and trimmed with 18 carat gold banding.

The Everleigh Bottling Company Cocktails
Created by the team at The Everleigh, there are four cocktails to enjoy: Manhattan, Old-Fashioned, Negroni and Martini. A perfect serve in each bottle that has been finished with liquid nitrogen to maintain freshness, these are available from the Everleigh’s newest bar Heartbreaker to drink at the bar, or take-away until 11pm every day. I’ve tried both Negroni and the Martini and I was not disappointed!
